AP sold

The Audemars Piguet is sold. Good thing because, despite it being an absolute beauty it didn't get enough wristtime. For my taste it's a bit too much bling-bling. The Breitling is my new toy and wow... it's awesome! It is a limited edition (serie speciale) that was released in black and white. Of course i choose the black dial version. The movement inside is a valjoux 7750; a very relaible automatic chronograph that is tested and approved as chronometer like every Breitling.

After waiting for a long time i finally found a nice oppertunity to buy a Breitling Navitimer. It's the series special with black dial and white subdial. Tomorrow i will pick the watch up at the post office and post some pictures. I can hardly wait untill i have it in my hands :-)

I'm also trying to sell some watches... This Audemars Piguet royal oak jumbo (see picture). It's the bigger version (yes... jumbo..) which is 40mm in diameter. It's made of the best 316L stainless steel and uses a genuine swiss eta 2836 movement.

L'ain - Rain in Burgundy

We drove from the Champagne region where the castle is, down to Burgundy and because of too much rain we drove all to the south of this beautiful region, to Bourg-en-Bresse.
We found a camping near the river Ain, which was beautifully located and after we set up the tent i coocked dinner. In the evening they showed Harry Potter on a big television set in the camping bar, where the wine was only 1 euro per glass!

Unfortunately the next morning it rained and Paula coocked some great eggs inside the tent, because coocking outside the tent was impossible. After breakfast we decided to break up the tent and drive south where we had more chance of sun.

The second day we wanted to go have dinner in a restaurant near the castle, but apparently around 20:00 h is quite late in the north of France. After a lon search through several little villages we found the restaurant... closed althought it shoul be open according to the guide. So after another long search through rural France we found the other restaurant within 20km fromp the castle. We walked in something that looked like an ugly bar and when we asked for food they said that the kitchen was closed... it was 20:00h and the look on his face was as if he was never asked to cook a meal at this time!

So in the end we drove back and ate a few old sandwiches we had left in the car.

So another valuable lesson learned... the French rural plces look stunningly... but are not equipped like we are used too!

False start

Well... we where able to drive 15 minutes and after we made a short stop at a gas station.. the autoclub had to help us 'on route' again. It appeared the battery was too old and it didn't charge anymore. Lucky us.. the auto club had a service station at only 10km and after a jumpstart we drove there to get a new battery. From there we had to take the 'peage' in France to reach the hotel/castle in time. Aah, well, it's a punnishment for me to drive on the Péage :-)

Well... tomorrow mornig we are on our we to France. This is the castle where we 're gonna stay the first 2 nights and from there we will drive a few kilometers south into the Bourgogne region, specificly to the côte d'or.

The prupose is to relax near our tent, eat, read some good books and ofcourse taste a lot of fine French wine. When it's possible i'll try to visit some of the wine farmers and buy the wine straight from the source... after trying it first biensure ;-)

I hope i will find an internet cafe overthere... otherwise i will have the feeling i miss the rest of the world... i know, i'm sick.

Yes... a watch!

Well... now i'll try to post a picture of a watch. Since i am a watch addict, this is probably the only subject i'll mention on this blog.

The watch is my Panerai PAM001. It is one of my favorite watches, just because it's so simple.... well... and BIG ofcourse. Since my first Panerai there was no way back to smaller watches and even my TAG Heuer Monaco and vintage Heuer Autavia (both big watches) are not as impressive anymore as they used to be. I guess the Panerai virus has struck me... and it struck me hard. Not that i mind, because this is only an excuse to buy another Pannie ;-)

The downside is that most watch brands are not of interest anymore and watches like my Omega Seamaster Professional or Omega Speedmaster Moon don't get as much wristtime as the Panerai.

This brings me to a whole new quest... finding other watches that are BIG and attractive. The big-part can be done, but to combine that with good looks appears to be quite difficult. If you have suggestions.... do let me know!

Yeah... my first post in my very first web log. Man this is sooooo easy. I was thinking about getting a weblog for quite some time but it all seemed to difficult or to time-consuming to start it, so it became... BIG... too big i guess. Untill i found this website :-)
It was just 5 clicks ... and tatataaa... i have my own weblog.

Well i hope i will be posting a lot of nonsense i the future.
